About our Accounting Firm:

C.P. Tax & Advisory, APC (CPTA) is a San Diego based accounting firm providing tax & advisory services to businesses & individuals primarily located in California, Oregon, & Washington. CPTA was established in 2022 by Chris Painter with main objective of providing excellent service & developing long-term, sustainable working relationships.

We understand everybody’s situation, needs, and levels of sophistication are different. We take the time to get a full grasp of your business operations, accounting/financial situation, and long-term goals in order to provide more valuable advice. This includes reviewing entity structure for tax ‘inefficiencies,’ looking for missed savings opportunities, reviewing financials statements together, and providing you with the necessary knowledge to make good business decisions and become a more informed taxpayer.

We pride ourselves in conducting business in an ethical and transparent manner and expect the same in return from our clients. Nobody likes [unwelcome] surprises, so we make a great effort to discuss the scope of services, pricing, and expectations on the front-end. If CPTA is not the best fit for you, we’ll try to point you in the right direction. If you’re requesting a service that would better handled internally, we will let you know. We only want to provide services and work with clients when it makes sense and we can provide value. Also, we strive to be easily accessible by phone & email at any time of the year. What’s more, we encourage our clients to reach out to us proactively. However, clients need to understand & respect ‘Busy Season’ for tax practitioners, which runs from February 1st to April 15th, and again August 1st through October 15th of every year.

Pricing & Payment Policy: We bill out our time at hourly rates. The hourly rates depend on level of experience of the person providing the service, and the type of service being provided, which is clarified in our engagement letter. We can provide an estimate of cost once we have a good understanding of the scope of work. If we anticipate the scope of the work to be substantial, our policy is to request a [fully refundable] retainer be paid prior to starting work. Terms are generally extended after a history of timely payment is established. Payment for ALL services is due upon receipt of an invoice and may be requested prior to delivery and/or electronic filing of tax returns.

Chris Painter received his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from California State University San Marcos, with an emphasis in Finance. His professional experience includes preparation of business & individual tax returns, IRS representation, and advising his clients on a wide range of tax & accounting matters.

Prior to starting CP Tax & Advisory APC, Chris served as the Managing Partner of New Era CPAs LLP from 2017 to 2022. There, he oversaw the firms operations and managed a diverse portfolio of approximately 200 business & individual clients. Prior to public accounting, he has professional experience with heavy data/sales analytics, financial modeling, and investment valuation.
